The Long Beach POA is just one of the groups that have been fighting hard for the members’ right to privacy.
The California Supreme Court has ruled that law enforcement agencies in the state must as a general rule disclose the names of officers involved in shootings, despite claims by the Long Beach POA that doing so would endanger their safety. The court, ruling 6-1, said that Californians’ right to assess the actions of law enforcement outweighed the individual officer’s right to privacy.
