Not working there
In Illinois, cops are saying they don’t want their new department to be in a building where abortions were performed. The building was originally a school and the abortion clinic has been shuttered for two years, but the building itself makes some people uncomfortable.
After the city said it was considering the old as the new home for one of three police district headquarters, Rockford Police Union President Terry Peterson said early results of a survey issued to the rank and file show a strong disdain for the proposal.
“Some people (officers and residents) have some serious religious objections to it,” he said. Peterson, who retired this year, added, “I personally would never work out of that building. There’s a stigma. It’s the idea of what took place in there.”
