One of the easiest ways to get the ball of “shared sacrifice” rolling is to highlight the practice that critics call “spiking.” That’s where you work tons of overtime in your last year or two on the job and retire based on those increased earnings. That’s no longer possible for cops and firefighters in Phoenix under their new contract.
