Body Cam Summit Coming Up
As pressure on body cameras grows, law enforcement leaders will gather in Orlando.
Recent events in Ferguson, Missouri, and Baltimore, Maryland, have coalesced public opinion on the subject of requiring police to wear body cameras.
They want them.
Across the country, pressure is building on law enforcement agencies and the associations representing police and corrections officers to embrace this emerging technology, while at the same time struggling with dozens of very complex and difficult issues regarding their use.
Who decides which images can be released to the public? How do you protect the privacy of ordinary citizens? Will cameras improve officer behavior or will they cause informants to stop talking to the police? How will all of these data be stored and at what cost?
These are just of few of the questions Jim Spearing, owner of JMS Associates, will attempt to answer at the Law Enforcement Summit on Body Cameras and Related Issues, to be held in Orlando, Florida, October 7 – 9, 2015.
Representatives of legal defense, management, labor, industry, civil rights and privacy experts will gather for the two-and-a-half day conference seeking practical answers and specific strategies to get in front of this emerging issue.
