Car rental rip-offs
Consumer advocates are warning people not to use automatic toll paying devices such as E-Zpass and Fas Talk offered with the rental car. Some companies are charge $4.95 per day whether you use it or not and they charge the full price for the tolls, not the discounted rate that people who contract for the devices get. Tell them you don’t want it and just pay the toll.
Pay less for car insurance
Your car insurance company may be offering discounts that could add up to 20% of the bill, but you will have to ask them for their list. Ask them to send you a complete listing of all discounts which might include things like being married, having a high school student with consistently good grades, low yearly mileage use compared to the national averages, special use of your car such as farm work, membership in AAA or AARP, owning home, and an advanced-degree discount. Some insurance companies even offer a discount if you “like” certain pages on Facebook. Get the list and see what you qualify for.
How to delete damaging posts
It’s no secret that posts on Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn can ruin your chances to get a job or a promotion. Many people don’t delete damaging posts because they don’t know how. Here’s how to get rid of anything you thing might come back to haunt you.
Facebook: Hover over the post in your Timeline. Click the V-shaped icon in the upper right hand counter. Then select “Delete.”
LinkedIn: Select “Your Updates” from the “All Updates” drop-down list. Find the objectionable post then click “Delete.”
Twitter: Go to your profile post. Locate the post you want to get rid of. Then click “Delete” for that post.
Sleep like a baby
The best bedtime snack for better sleeping, according to the folks at the Atlanta Canter for Holistic and Integrated Medicine, is a piece of toast with peanut butter or a serving of fruit with yogurt. Both these foods make tryptophan more available to the brain where the neurotransmitter serotonin (relaxation agent) is produced.
