Great times for union busters
The basic idea of organized labor is strength in numbers. The basic strategy for those opposed to the interests of workers is divide and conquer. And that’s what makes the lack of organization evident in the labor community so vexing. Billionaires like the Koch Brothers, Pete Peterson and John Arnold act in concert for their common interests with coordination and sophistication that labor leaders and orgs do not. “What does the fact that a bunch of autoworkers in Tennessee weren’t allowed to unionize have to do with me?” the thinking goes. Well it’s that kind of apathy that has created such optimal conditions to eliminate unions all together. If only the forces of organized labor were as passionate and organized as the union busters there might be more attention paid to well-financed efforts to screw the working class.
