Caps and vests beef
The association representing Pittsburgh police officers has filed a grievance involving appearance standards and body armor. Pittsburgh cops are challenging a new rule that forbids them to wear baseball caps on duty. Additionally officers are seeking a change to a new policy requiring officers to wear their body armor underneath their uniforms as opposed to over them. Sonya Toler, the Pittsburgh public safety spokesperson told reporters the new rules are designed to create a friendlier, more approachable appearance for local law enforcement. She says that public safety director Stephen Bucar, a former FBI agent, wants officers to look less tactical and more professional.
