AZ police associations seek changes on search policy

Lt. Tom Boelts of the Yavapai Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Bureau, supports the measure that would allow law enforcement to perform a search without a warrant.
Several high-profile law-enforcement associations in Arizona want police to be able to conduct searches without a warrant on convicted criminals who are on probation or parole. The proposed legislation, which is being spearheaded by the Arizona Sheriffs Association, would allow any member of law enforcement to search a probationer’s or parolee’s vehicle, home or person if there was reasonable suspicion that a crime was being committed.
