10 point plan
The Dallas Police Association has laid out its ten point plan to reform the department. DPA president Ron Pinkston said he came up with the reforms after a recent survey of his officers showed many were unhappy. The survey showed 78 percent of respondent said they would discourage any one from becoming a DPD officer.
The ten points are: strengthen ethics, increase transparency, clarify use of force policy, improve chase procedures, follow transfer policy, improve internal affairs investigations, implement fairer promotion schedule, institute criteria for rank of major & chief, improve safety of police vehicles and establish flexible scheduling. “Right now we do training at the bottom we need to have ethics all the way to the top,” Pinkston said.
