Who are we?
PubSecAlliance is a growing online community of union and association leaders from groups representing sworn personnel in law enforcement agencies in the U.S., Canada and around the world. It is not a formal organization. There is no president or board of directors. Our mission is simply to provide a space for you to communicate with your colleagues about your most pressing concerns, while informing you about the issues that matter to you most.
Alarmed at the increasing number of problems impacting our lives as law enforcement officers, we have come together to share information, find solutions, help each other, and keep everyone up to date about the organized efforts to privatize our jobs, cut our pay, and eliminate or reduce our pensions and health-care coverage. We have areas for public discussion as well as a private members-only forum to share sensitive information away from the eyes of the public. We aim to provide a space for input, advice, strategy and tactics; a place to share victories and defeats and to learn from each other’s mistakes.

nation’s largest associations representing sworn personnel with state
police, sheriff’s departments and offices and other law enforcement
agencies.
The first step in taking away our hard-won benefits is to eliminate collective bargaining rights in those places where it’s legal for public sector employees to bargain over pay, benefits and working conditions. As you know that effort to destroy public-sector unions is well underway. We only have to look at the extreme measures taken by Tea Party-affiliated governors from Florida, Michigan, and Wisconsin and their aggressive efforts to destroy colllective bargaining rights for their state’s public employees to see what we are up against. At PubSecAlliance we are committed to the idea that we can only preserve what we’ve earned by joining together and developing a series of smart, strategic plans to fight back – and this is the place to do just that.
Many of the largest law enforcement associations and unions are the driving force behind the launching of PubSecAlliance. Our group also works closely with the world’s leading academic institution focusing labor issues – Harvard University’s Labor and Worklife Program at the Harvard Law School.
Cynthia Brown, the publisher of American Police Beat and founder of the Police Union Leadership Seminar at the Harvard Law School, is the PubSecAlliance administrator. Her work for over four decades advocating for the nation’s law enforcement officers makes her eminently qualified to take on this complex project and make it a success.
