We’re not trying to get rid of the guy
The leaders of the Dallas Police Association said Tuesday that they aren’t looking to oust Chief David Brown despite group members’ complaints about low morale within the department. In a meeting with The Dallas Morning News’ editorial board, DPA president Ron Pinkston and vice presidents Frederick Frazier and Michael Mata detailed what they believe are the problems with departmental policies. They said they hope to reopen lines of communication with the chief after their relationship soured in the past year.
“This is not about getting rid of Chief Brown,” Mata said. “Any chief that we come with, we’re going to have good things and we’re going to have bad things. And we’re going to have to find a way. We all wear the same uniform, we all carry the same badge, and we all work for the same people, and that’s the citizens of Dallas.
