Tattoo said “Cop Killer
On Saturday in Albuquerque a man clad in camouflage clothes wielding an assault rifle asked a bystander to call 911 and tell the police he was waiting for them. When police arrivedhe fired several gunshots at them and stole an Albuquerque police car from an officer who was seeking cover. While he was driving the stolen car,the man fired several shots at the pursuing officers and injured three officers and one deputy, Robin Hopkins, 45. She was rushed to the hospital and underwent surgery.Bernalillo County Sheriff Dan Houston said she has long, tough road to recovery. .
The suspect was identified as Christopher Chase, 35. He has a past criminal record, which included embezzlement, fraud and traffic violations, and had a tattoo that said “cop killer.” There is no apparent motive for the shooting.
