Police union now a media powerhouse
In 2009, the Los Angeles Police Protective League (LAPPL) launched a free daily e-newsletter summarizing law enforcement and relevant government news of the day. Today the e-newsletter called NewsWatch is popular news clippings service used by police officers, reporters, elected officials and the public.
The free service gathers the most important and relevant news stories on law-enforcement/public safety issues and delivers them to subscribers in the early morning hours as a way to help them start their day with important and useful information.
If you are not already receiving the LAPPL NewsWatch, sign up for your complimentary subscription at the League’s website, www.LAPD.com. You do not have to be a member of the LAPPL to obtain this valuable service; it is available for free to everyone.
The League also has a widely read blog that draws on expertise from a host of experienced police officers and experts in law, politics and police procedures. The blog analyzes the latest news and commentaries from a law enforcement perspective and presents it to everyone in an easy-to-read format. If you like what the League is doing, replicate it in your own city.
