Officers’ long due OT is coming
In Guam, cops are happy after the Governor signed a law that approved payment of past due overtime. Sworn personnel from several agencies will benefit, including Guam Customs and Quarantine, Department of Corrections, Guam Police Department, the Judiciary and the Guam Fire Department. In a rather unusual move the funds will not come from the public safety budget but rather will be borrowed from the Guam Visitors Bureau’s Tourist Attraction Fund.
Senator Brant McCreadie, who worked with Governor Calvo to get the bill introduced, said he’s extremely happy that the governor signed the bill into law. He also thanked his colleagues saying, “That’s what happens when we work together and democrats and republicans put protection before politics.”
