Make sure they know
When a citizen gets a phone call from someone claiming to be raising money for charity for a police association the odds are extremely high that it’s a scam. Little old ladies are pretty quick to pull out their checkbooks and credit cards when someone asks for a donation to help the families of officers killed in the line of duty. That’s why it’s such an easy hustle – what some people call a “soft shake.” So if your organization is going to be calling citizens and asking them for money, it might be a good idea to make sure they know the thing’s on the up and up. That’s just what the Northampton Police Association is doing.
