“Strange Brew” (1983) Trailer
The movie responsible for more Canadian stereotypes than Dudley Do-Right gave us. The boozy adventures of Bob and Doug McKenzie (Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas). Really makes you hosers crave a cold one, eh?

“Sideways” (2004) Trailer
Paul Giamatti’s disdain for merlot in this 2004 flick was so intense that it led to an actual drop in merlot sales. It also proved that wine is just as good as beer in terms of male bonding.

“Cocktail” (1988) with Tom Cruise. Clip.
A real bartender trained Cruise for this popular film. Tom Cruise claimed to be the world’s last barman poet. Then again, anyone who says “pickleback special” sounds like Whitman to our ears.

“Animal House” (1978) Trailer
Thank this movie for generations of frat boys who think they’re as funny or charming as John Belushi, or could chug as much as he did without ending up in the campus infirmary.

“The Big Lebowski” (1998) Trailer
You ever play that drinking game where you try to down a White Russian every time the Dude does? No, you didn’t, unless you’re reading this from beyond the grave.

“Arthur” (1981)
Dudley Moore’s lovable drunken millionaire made alcoholism seem fun! Check out this great bar scene. Don’t watch the 2011 remake unless you want to drink yourself into actual cirrhosis.

“The Lost Weekend” (1945) Trailer
Hey, not all drinking movies can be comedies. Turns out drinking can actually harm some people, as this Billy Wilder tale of a writer’s (Ray Milland) descent into alcoholism shows. Also staring Jane Wyman, first wife of Ronald Reagan and an Oscar winning actress.

“Beerfest” (2006) Trailer
The “Super Troopers” crew’s comedy about competitive drinking introduced the inebriated memory term “drunken recall,” which is totally a real thing.

“The Hangover” (2009) Trailer
Before this dead horse got smashed to death like a frat-house beer can, the 2009 original gave us some classic drunken few-too-many scenes that made sure you never looked at Mike Tyson the same way again.

“Withnail and I” (1987) Trailer
The British black comedy follows two out-of-work sots so desperate for a buzz, they drink lighter fluid at one point.
