Call it “theft” not “reform”
Jim Unland, president of the San Jose POA takes on the people, including the mayor of San Jose and the folks at the Manhattan Institute, who want to eliminate your pension and take the money you earned and are owed. The right word for that is “theft” not “reform”
Excerpt from Unland’s article: “Why is San Jose Mayor Chuck Reed’s initiative unlikely to make the ballot? Because the smart money in California knows it is destined to fail. Voters may support ending pension system abuses, but they don’t back, as Reed would say, “eliminating” the retirement security of those who keep our streets safe, teach our kids, and protect our property. Reed is pushing a measure that would allow elected officials to reduce the retirement benefits of teachers, firefighters, police officers, school bus drivers and other public employees.”
