Another Fundraising Scam
By Christopher J. Burgos
To my brother and sister officers everywhere!
I am writing to warn you that there’s another scam charity out there this time using the terms “State Trooper and “Brotherhood. You can check it out for yourself at the links below.
Our Association (New Jersey State Troopers) has already warned the public and businesses in our state about this new “State Troopers Coalition” group.
There is absolutely nothing legitimate about it, from what we have found, other than that some retirees and self-promoters who are sadly trying to cash in on the citizen’s generosity and our good name. We are filing a formal complaint with our Consumer Affairs Division.
I’ve been told their tactics are heavy handed and typical of a boiler room operation. They show up at homes and businesses demanding a donation to the “Troopers.” The “Brotherhood” had its charity designation revoked for failing to file with the IRS and other shenanigans. The “President” of this group has been DECEASED for 13 years! Another sham group with no legitimacy whatsoever.

If your association has had any luck fighting back when these groups surface, I would like to hear from you.
