“We’re talking about a better New York. There are all these jobs associated with the carriage industry, jobs that generate revenue and tourism,” Mullins said. “When the city is telling you they have no money and they’re offering zero pay, but they’re trying to ban jobs that produce tax revenues – that’s not good.”
A police union in New York City has bought some air-time to broadcast attack ads targeting newly sworn in Mayor Bill DeBlasio. Ed Mullins, the head of sergeants union, is using radio ads to slam Mayor de Blasio for trying to ban the horse carriages. Mullins says the mayor claims there’s no money for raises but that if he bans the horse carriage industry, which brings in tourism and creates jobs, there will be even less money for salaries.
